I was searching online and there was a lot of info on how to apply for the Malaysia VEP, but they were all dated in 2024 - when there was a mad rush to apply due to the deadline my Malaysia on forced implementation.
Now that the long queue is over, has the process improved? It seemed like a big hassle to apply for it. I even saw shops in Singapore offering to apply it for you - for a fee of $50.

I decided to try and do it myself after lots of research. From watching videos, documentaries and gathering information from different sites, blogs etc. Gathering the different documents took a bit of time too. So here's the guide and links, so you don’t have to go through all the research!
TL;DR: VEP application took 5 (working) days to receiving of RFID tag in mail after application. It is not difficult to do it, but it took quite some time trying to track down and get the relevant documents online. The VEP application asked for a lot of information, but if you have all the documents at hand, it can be completed.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to apply for VEP for a Singapore car, in Singapore.
Step 1: Apply for a Touch n Go eWallet account
Download and set up Touch n Go eWallet
For Singaporeans, choose NRIC as the ID type in the app
Note: Get your physical NRIC at hand, because you will have to take a picture with the app

Step 2: Get documents ready for VEP registration
Now, here's where it took up quite some time... Took me some time to locate where to get the specific documents needed. So here's the compilation to save you the time.
Document 1: Get your Vehicle Registration Certificate of log card
Go to OneMotoring website and access "Enquire My Vehicle Details (Requires Login)" under digital services.
Or, here's the quick link to OneMotoring's Vehicle Registration Certificate
Note: You will have to login using Singpass after you click on the link. This is not a scam link. I simply copied the URL of the page that directly leads to this document to help save you time, as it took me ages to find the correct page/URL for this document.
Document 2: Get your Vehicle Inspection Report (if applicable)
Go to OneMotoring website and access "Check Inspection History (Requires Login)" under digital services
Again, here's the quick link to OneMotoring's Vehicle Inspection Report
Note: Singpass login needed after you click on the link. Again, this is not a scam link. I simply copied the URL of the page that directly leads to this document to help save you time, as it took me ages to find the correct page/URL for this document.
Document 3: Proof of insurance
Yes, you need to submit the whole insurance policy. They want to check that your insurance covers your vehicle in Malaysia). Your insurance policy you downloaded from your provider might be quite a huge file size. So you may need to compress your PDF file as they don’t except files over 1MB.

Document 4: Get your physical NRIC ready at hand
You will have to take a picture of it, you cannot upload a picture/PDF that you already have.
Step 3: Register VEP online
Here's the link to the official portal vep.jpj.gov.my
You will need to create an account with your personal and vehicle details, such as registration number, model and chassis number
Step 4: Link Touch ‘N Go eWallet to VEP
The eWallet is linked to the VEP RFID tag for toll payments and road charges
Step 5: Pay Fees
Pay the VEP fee (eg. RM10/year for passenger cars) through the Touch ‘N Go eWallet
Receive confirmation
The automated reply email said that processing may take up to 5 days, and that you’ll receive a confirmation email. Once approved, collect or arrange delivery of your RFID tag, which needs to be installed on your vehicle.
The RFID tag is valid for five years and will need to be renewed before expiration.
Time Taken = 5 days
I finished VEP application on Monday, 3 March 2025 at 10:40am, they sent an email back for me to login and make amendments at 11:05am. It was subsequently approved and paid for at 11:14am. And received the RFID tag in the mail on Friday 7 March 2025.
Next, I will have to install the RFID tag on the vehicle and take a picture to upload for activation. I haven't done that yet. Will update when I get around to doing it.
