Serve draught beer at home!

We were having quite a few Chinese New Year gatherings and our fridge was packed full of drinks.

We were about to buy cartons of beer when I was musing to the hubs about the time we visited my best friend’s father’s home in France and he had a beer tap next to his swimming pool, and how great it would be if we could do that.

The hubs searched and it turns out, you can totally rent one here in Singapore!

His work colleagues were coming over so we decided to try renting a beer dispenser so we could serve fresh, cold beer. Yums!

This is the dispenser that we rented for $25.

The mini kegs came delivered in these carton boxes.

The guy who delivered the beer said beer would be colder faster if the mini kegs were chilled. Had to open up the box in order to fit it into the fridge and even then, it was quite big, but we managed to find a space to squeeze it in.

Our fridge completely full of chilled drinks for the hosting of CNY gatherings.

He gave a quick check to prove the machine was working when delivered and showed how to turn the machine on. As the mini kegs were not chilled yet, he only gave verbal instructions on how to install it for use.

I asked him by when we need to return the machine. He was like, “Let me know when you are done (finished drinking the mini kegs) and I’ll come lor.” No rush, so cool!

Plus point: This turned out to be a talking point and like a party trick! Guests were excited to and had fun pouring their own draught beer. A lot of them ended up with a lot of head (foam on top of beer) though. Makes you appreciate a bartender’s skill huh!

They were afraid to pull the lever too hard in case of a rush of beer. But that created more head.

TIP: Advise your guest to pull the lever to the max and tip the cup/glass at 45 degrees, slowly tilting it back upright as it gets filled.

What size beer keg should you get?

1 litre of beer can give you about 3x 330ml glasses.

So if your party guests drink about 1-2 glasses per person, an 8L blade can serve about 9 people.

Now for the all important question…

Where did I get this draught beer set up from, and how much was the damage?

We got 2x 8L blades of Heineken beer for $231.08 and it fed 2 parties over 2 days (guests were not hardcore drinkers as you can tell)

Here’s the breakdown

1x 8L blade of beer: $88

Delivery fee: $8

Installation fee: $25

Note: There will be GST charged on top of this

We got this from Drinkies. You just need to order online and they will send someone to deliver to you.

If you do get this, let me know how it went for you!

I think we levelled up in our house party game.
